Our past Annual Reports are in an easy-to-read format and are packed with stories about the success of our program.
SHARP’s commitment is to enhance future life success by energizing urban children, motivating them to identify themselves as confident, capable scholars and lifelong learners by inspiring engagement in reading, writing and research through hands-on interaction and visual arts. Part of our approach is to extend the lessons outside of the classroom. Through curriculum-based field trips to the Milwaukee Art Museum, docents reinforce vocabulary and use the visual arts to illustrate basic themes and ideas under study.
To build our student’s research skills, SHARP develops special study projects that require exploring our community. These projects have varied in scope and complexity, but most importantly SHARP students research a selected subject and their original writing and creative visual art generates the final product of their learning; a published book or a public art mural, and sometimes both.
